When Welcoming Becomes a Message

In the halls of Kuwait International Airport, where journeys of faith meet moments of arrival and farewell, the "Talbiya" Initiative was launched to embody a deeper meaning of Kuwaiti hospitality hospitality measured not by the size of a gift, but by the sincerity of the feelings carried as you welcome the guest of the Most Merciful at the start of their spiritual journey, or bid them farewell upon their return.

"Talbiya" is a Kuwaiti volunteer initiative launched by Kuwait Future Group, represented by Ms. Shaimaa Al-Qattan, with the goal of welcoming and seeing off Hajj pilgrims through Kuwait International Airport as part of an integrated, organized volunteer system.

"Serving the Pilgrim… an Honor Unmatched"

This is more than a slogan; it's the philosophy that drives every volunteer in the initiative. "Talbiya" rests on three core pillars:

  • Field Operations: Welcoming and bidding farewell to pilgrims at terminals T1 and T4 of Kuwait International Airport.

  • Institutional Coordination: Working directly with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to ensure smooth procedures.

  • The Human Experience: Creating a warm, dignified moment for the pilgrim during the most important spiritual transition of their life.

Achievements on the Ground

Throughout the season, the initiative left a clear mark:

  • Successful coordination with all relevant authorities at the airport to ensure pilgrims' ease of access.

  • A strong team spirit and high flexibility in handling daily field challenges.

  • Wide, positive engagement from pilgrims who expressed genuine appreciation for the service.

  • Continuous coverage throughout the initiative's period, strengthening its impact and image with visitors.

HBS's Role: A Partner in Every Purposeful Initiative

And in the End… the Talbiya Endures

The "Talbiya" Initiative is far greater than a logistical effort carried out between terminals T1 and T4. It is a warm reminder that Kuwait its land and its people still carries the truest meaning of hospitality in its conscience, where every volunteer becomes a small bridge between the pilgrim and their comfort, between their journey and their peace of mind.

A pilgrim may board the plane without knowing the names of those who welcomed him, or remembering the faces of those who saw him off. Yet he returns with one feeling settled in his heart: that someone began the journey of "answering the call" alongside him before his feet touched the holy lands, and someone met him with a smile upon his return as if he had come home to family.

This is "Talbiya"… an initiative measured not by its numbers, but by its mark on the hearts of those it served. And every year, when Hajj flights depart from Kuwait, the appointment stands at the airport gates those who answered the call first welcome those who answer it now, reminding the world that serving the guest of the Most Merciful is an honor that knows no end.

And every season, the Talbiya endures.
